Can real strategy work on a phone?
For years I assumed proper strategy games couldn't survive the phone screen. Too many menus, too much micromanagement. Then Iron Tide Command changed my mind.
It works because it slows down. Turn-based hex battles let you think without twitch demands, and the campaign parcels decisions into chunks you can handle between other things. Fog of war makes scouting genuinely tense.
The learning curve is real — the opening menus are dense, and I bounced off once before giving it a fair shot. But once the systems clicked, managing a fleet felt as engaging as anything on a bigger screen.
The offline part matters here more than most genres, because strategy games are about uninterrupted thought. Nothing kills a plan like a connection error mid-turn. This one never breaks the flow.
